About the position

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
The primary function of the Handyman is to operate and maintain the property and equipment of the Association and perform basic building maintenance repairs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Handyman you will be responsible to operate, repair and maintain the Association's cleaning equipment and ensure that minor building maintenance repairs are carried out and thereby creating a clean and safe environment for the Associations employees, tenants and visitors.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for building maintenance and repairs.
• Routine electrical, plumbing, heating/airconditioning, carpentry, painting and paving amongst other others.
• Roof cleaning and full bore maintenance.
• Operation and maintenance of the grey water system.
• Responsible for the replacement of light bulbs, fittings and repairs.
• Operation and maintenance of generator including gas and oil monitoring.
• Assist with the opening and closing of Association doors. And security features.
• Assist with movement of equipment and furniture, etc.
• Garden maintenance - watering, minor cleaning and cutting back.
• Work safely and ensure safety equipment is used at all times.
• Report any unsafe working conditions to your line manager for the necessary investigation and subsequent action.
• Assist with ground maintenance when required.
• Maintain all tools and equipment and ensure it is in good working condition.
• Perform emergency repairs as instructed.
• Assist with remodelling, including office rearrangement.
• Ensure preventative maintenance work is carried out.
• Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of supplies and materials.
• Install and inspect new equipment and furniture when required.
• Driver duties.
• Assist with carrying out all duties performed by the facilities department.
• Assist with any other general dutoes outside of the normal duties.
• Any other duties relating to the Department or the Association as a whole, which may reasonably be expected of an employee in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Relevant qualification.
• At least 3-5 years relevant experience.
• Skill in the use of tools.
• Interpersonal skills to work courteously and effectively.
• Customer service skills.
• Need an appreciation of the importance of completing tasks on deadline.
• Code B driver's licence.

Desired Skills:

• Handyman
