About the position
Our client in the mining industry is currently seeking a highly experienced Group Resource Geologist to support Mineral Resources and Reserves Management across group operations and projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for geological modelling, resource estimation, reconciliation, reporting, and the integrity of geological databases, while ensuring compliance with SAMREC and other relevant reporting codes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake detailed geological modelling and Mineral Resource estimation.
- Develop and maintain Resource models to support mine planning, development, and operational decisions.
- Validate geological and technical data for resource evaluation.
- Reconcile Mineral Resources, Ore Reserves, grade control models, and metallurgical recoveries.
- Maintain and manage geological databases, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and security.
- Prepare statutory and internal reports, including Mineral Resource Statements and Competent Person's Reports (SAMREC-compliant).
- Provide technical support for mining and exploration projects.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders across Mining, Processing, and Exploration teams.
- Drive continuous improvement of resource evaluation processes, systems, and technology.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and reporting standards.
Requirements
- BSc Honours Degree (NQF 8) in Geology or related discipline.
- Professional registration with SACNASP (Pr.Sci.Nat.).
- Recognised Competent Person for SAMREC/JORC or Qualified Person for NI 43-101.
- Minimum 15 years' experience in geology, with at least 5 years in Mineral Resource estimation.
- Strong experience in Resource Modelling and Estimation, particularly Chrome and PGEs.
- Advanced proficiency in geological modelling and data management software (Sable, Datamine, Surpac preferred).
- Knowledge of SAMREC/SAMVAL Codes and mining legislation, including the Mine Health and Safety Act.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
