Group HR Manager
Job Purpose
The Group HR Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the full human resources function across the organisation. The successful candidate must be a hands-on, KPI-driven HR professional with strong leadership experience and extensive expertise in performance management, industrial relations, skills development, recruitment and Sage 300 payroll and HR
Key Duties and Responsibilities
HR Management and Leadership
- Manage and oversee the organisation's complete HR function.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Provide guidance and support to management on all HR-related matters.
- Ensure HR policies, procedures and employment practices comply with current labour legislation.
- Lead, manage and develop the HR team.
- Prepare and present HR reports to senior management.
Performance Management and KPIs
- Manage and drive the company's performance-management processes.
- Develop, implement and monitor measurable KPIs across the organisation.
- Assist managers in setting clear performance standards and objectives.
- Monitor employee performance and ensure that performance concerns are addressed effectively.
- Manage poor-performance and incapacity processes in accordance with labour legislation.
- Promote a performance-driven and accountable organisational culture.
Industrial Relations
- Manage all industrial-relations matters, including disciplinary processes, grievances, misconduct and incapacity.
- Provide expert advice to management on the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act and related legislation.
- Chair or oversee disciplinary hearings and internal grievance procedures.
- Represent the company at the CCMA during conciliation and arbitration proceedings.
- Ensure consistent and legally compliant application of workplace policies and procedures.
- Maintain constructive relationships between management and employees.
Skills Development
- Develop and implement the organisation's skills-development strategy.
- Identify training needs and coordinate appropriate learning and development programmes.
- Manage annual Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report submissions.
- Liaise with relevant SETAs and other training bodies.
- Monitor training expenditure, grants and skills-development initiatives.
- Ensure that training programmes support operational requirements and employee development.
Recruitment and Talent Management
- Manage the complete recruitment and selection process.
- Partner with management to identify staffing requirements.
- Ensure suitable sourcing, screening, interviewing and appointment processes.
- Oversee onboarding, induction and probation management.
- Develop talent-retention and succession-planning initiatives.
- Ensure that recruitment processes support the organisation's Employment Equity objectives.
HR and Payroll Systems
- Manage employee information and HR processes using Sage 300 People.
- Oversee payroll administration and processing on Sage 300 Payroll.
- Ensure employee and payroll information is accurate and updated.
- Review payroll reports, deductions, benefits and statutory contributions.
- Work closely with finance and payroll personnel to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of all employee information.
Education and Qualifications
- Degree in Human Resource Management, Human Resources or Industrial Relations.
- A postgraduate qualification in HR Management or Industrial Relations would be advantageous.
Experience and Requirements
- A minimum of five years' experience in an HR management role.
- Proven experience managing a comprehensive HR function.
- Extensive performance-management and KPI-development experience.
- Strong industrial-relations experience is essential.
- Proven experience managing disciplinary hearings, grievances, incapacity processes and CCMA matters.
- Extensive skills-development experience, including WSP and ATR submissions and SETA liaison.
- Solid recruitment and talent-management experience.
- Practical experience using Sage 300 People or Sage 300 HR.
- Sage 300 Payroll experience is essential.
- Strong working knowledge of South African labour legislation.
- Experience managing and developing an HR team.
