About the position
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Group HR Executive to lead and drive the Human Resources strategy across a fast-paced FMCG environment. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong operational execution capability, particularly in Employee Relations (ER) and Industrial Relations (IR), as well as proven experience in union engagement and negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the overall HR strategy aligned with business objectives
- Lead and manage all Employee Relations (ER) and Industrial Relations (IR) functions across the group
- Act as the primary liaison with trade unions, including leading wage negotiations, dispute resolution, and collective bargaining processes
- Ensure compliance with all relevant labour legislation and HR best practices
- Provide strategic HR guidance to executive leadership and business units
- Oversee disciplinary processes, grievance handling, and CCMA cases
- Drive organisational development, workforce planning, and talent management initiatives
- Manage HR policies, procedures, and transformation initiatives
- Lead and mentor the HR team across multiple sites
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources / industrial psychology / related field (Master’s degree advantageous)
- Minimum 8–10 years’ HR experience, with at least 5 years at senior/executive level
- Must have: FMCG industry experience
- Proven track record in union negotiations and collective bargaining
- Strong experience in ER/IR, including handling complex disciplinary matters and CCMA cases
- In-depth knowledge of South African labour legislation
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to operate in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
