Insurance industry

LOCATION: The CFO will work with group companies across the country. Can be based in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban.

• Financial management - Financial accounting
• Income tax compliance - Ensure tax compliance
• Funding - Manage financial commitments on group facilities with lenders
• Corporate transactions - Adhoc involvement in corporate transactions
• Corporate existence and Maintenance - Ensure compliance with constitutional documents and other relevant laws governing the group

GROUP FUNCTIONS

Consolidation of group budgets

• Manage the budgeting process for the Group
• Prepare the consolidated budgets for the Group.

Group financial reporting

• Timeous compilation of accurate and reliable group management accounts

Oversee & co-ordinate group financial management

• Manage and harmonise accounting policies of the group.
• Analyse financial reports of underlying group companies
• Oversight over financial controls at underlying group companies
• Appointment to subsidiary board companies

Oversee income tax compliance across group entities

• Liase with financial managers of underlying group companies to ensure income tax compliance in underlying group companies

Board reporting

• Compile Board packs for Group Board meetings

Audit of group companies

• Liase with group and component auditors to conclude annual audits of AFS

Consolidated AFS

• Compile and conclude unqualified audited AFS for the group

GROUP

Financial Control (over time this could be managed within company taking into account competence of staff and allocation of responsibilities)

• Monitor all bank accounts and authorise transfers and payments and ensure optimum interest generation.
• Monitor and approval salary increases and review month to month payroll

ADMIN

Financial management services on an outsource basis

• Oversee financial accounting, reporting and tax compliance.
• Assist company to comply with constitutional documents and other relevant laws governing the company.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• CA (SA)
• At least 15 years experience in financial management and leadership
• Have led financial function in reputable and sizeable businesses
• Experience in preparing and providing monthly management reports
• Experience with audits and preparing consolidated AFS
• Experience in serving on leadership forums/Exco/Boards
• Experience in short-term insurance industry would be an advantage
