About the position
A leading packaging company in Durban is seeking a Group Buyer to join their team.
Reporting directly to the Financial Director, this role is key to ensuring that the business secures the most appropriate goods and services by balancing price, quality, delivery times, and service support.
Purpose of the Role
The Group Buyer will oversee purchasing activities, supplier management, and procurement processes to maximize efficiency and maintain high-quality standards across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Forecast demand for services, products, and components to support manufacturing needs.
- Conduct market research to identify trends and assess requirements.
- Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, internal departments, and customers.
- Develop and implement purchasing policies and procedures.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers.
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate contract files.
- Negotiate and authorize contracts, monitoring progress and compliance.
- Process supplier payments and invoices.
- Ensure suppliers align with company objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor costs, quality, and service levels.
- Track stock levels to optimize business efficiency.
- Perform additional tasks within your skills and capabilities as required.
Requirements
Abilities:
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Effective monitoring of tasks and information.
- Compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Skills & Experience:
- 3-5 years of procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Qualifications:
- A related qualification in procurement or supply chain will be advantageous.
