About the position
Our client in the Renewable Energy sector is recruiting for a Group Accountant to join their growing team. Travel into Africa will be required at least once a month for your first 6 months of employment.
Responsibilities include:
- Processing financial accounting for trial balance information; weekly analysis of trial balance and monthly management reporting
- Ensuring capture all liabilities are captured, and their settlement in compliance with Company accounting policy and /or Vendor contract terms
- Assisting in managing intergroup transactions across the Group
- Providing timely and accurate reporting of liabilities
- Full bookkeeping function up to management accounts
- Reviewing the work of the external audit firms in each country and managing the respective processes that the audit firms are responsible for (e.g. payroll, taxes, VAT, WHT, accounting and processing)
- Assisting in preparing the Company's annual budget and budget updates (monthly, quarterly)
- Assisting in preparing the monthly, quarterly, and annual internal Company financials including Income Statement, Operating Expense Statement, Overhead Expense Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows, Employee Headcount and appropriate variance and statistical analysis
- Maintaining proper and effective controls over the Company's cash resources to prevent misuse of defalcation
- Ensuring amounts due to the Company are collected on time
- Assisting in supervising the forecasting of the Company cash requirements
- Minimising transaction costs to the Company
- Assisting in preparing the annual statutory Financial Statements for the Company
- Compiling audit documentation and assisting in coordinating the annual audit process, assisting in supervising the audit, and clearing all audit exceptions
- Managing the Fixed Asset Register
- Assisting in the design and implementation of an inventory recording and control system, and ensuring that the operation is integrated into the financial accounting and reporting
- Assisting in managing the determination and payment of all Company tax obligations (if any) such as revenue taxes, profits tax, employment taxes, duties or any other taxes payments (including VAT, RVAT, WHT and dividend taxes)
- Assisting with corporate governance issues as required
- Sorting documents and posting debits/credits
- Balancing entries and making necessary corrections.
- Maintaining and making necessary adjustments to records such as journals, payroll/ time reports, or property records
- Verifying and reconciling bank statements or department records
- Assisting with any banking and/or payment procedures (including foreign banking)
Requirements
- B.Com Honors and completed articles
- Minimum of 3-5 years accounting experience
- Experience in the Energy / Power industry will be considered an advantage
- Extensive knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs)
- Excellent computer (excel, word, power point, accounting software) and communication skills
