POSITION: GRID ENGINEER
Our client is a global leader in the creation and development of sustainable solutions to growing needs within the energy sector. They are looking for a dynamic individual to join their team in Cape Town as a Grid Engineer.
JOB OVERVIEW:
As a Grid Engineer, you will be a key player in the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical grid systems. Your responsibilities will span various aspects of grid management, from planning and optimisation to troubleshooting and innovation. This role requires a deep understanding of power systems, grid technologies, and a commitment to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical distribution networks.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is advantageous.
- ECSA registration as a professional engineer.
- Minimum of five years' proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical grid systems.
- Strong knowledge of power system analysis, grid integration of renewable energy, and smart grid technologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards for grid operations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Grid Planning and Optimisation:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and optimise electrical grid systems.
- Conduct load flow studies and analyses to ensure efficient power distribution.
- Evaluate grid performance and propose enhancements for optimal energy transmission.
Grid Infrastructure Development:
- Contribute to the development of new grid infrastructure projects.
- Design and implement systems for grid expansion, integration of renewable energy sources, and smart grid technologies.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure successful and timely project delivery.
Grid Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Implement monitoring systems to oversee the health and performance of grid components.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure the reliability of grid infrastructure.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
Troubleshooting and Technical Support:
- Investigate and resolve grid-related issues promptly.
- Provide technical support for grid-related challenges and emergencies.
- Collaborate with field teams to address on-site issues and implement solutions.
Grid Security and Compliance:
- Implement security measures to safeguard grid infrastructure against cyber threats.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in grid security.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyse data from grid monitoring systems to identify trends and potential issues.
- Prepare reports on grid performance, efficiency, and proposed improvements.
- Present findings to stakeholders and recommend actionable insights.
REMUNDERATION:
- R600,000.00 - R900,000.00 CTC/annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)
