About the position

Introduction

To research, analyze, and forecast fashion trends-globally and locally-transforming insights into actionable design direction for the business. This role ensures that the buying and design teams are aligned to relevant and commercially viable fashion trends, helping to drive trend-led product decisions and enhance the brand's market relevance.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Relevant tertiary qualification in Fashion Design, Trend Forecasting, or a related field

3-5 years experience in fashion trend forecasting, buying, or design-related roles

Proficiency in WGSN, Google Trends, and social/media analytics platforms

Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

Strong research, analysis, and presentation skills

Solid understanding of commercial retail and consumer behavior

Competencies

Strong understanding of the global and local fashion landscape

Commercial awareness with the ability to balance creativity and market relevance

Exceptional visual communication and presentation skills

Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data into creative strategy

Strong collaboration and cross-functional communication skills

Creative and innovative thinking with a trend-sensitive eye

Key responsibilities

Trend Forecaster

Research and analyze global, local, cultural, and social trends across the fashion industry.

Identify and define both short-term (seasonal) and long-term (macro) trends, with a focus on print, colour, fabric, and silhouette.

Translate trend insights into visual and written presentations, including moodboards and seasonal trend books.

Filter and adapt high-fashion trends into commercially viable options for a mass retail audience.

Collaborate with the Graphic Design and Buying Teams to translate trends into product and design concepts.

Conduct and interpret both qualitative and quantitative research, including customer behavior and market shifts.

Leverage tools such as Google Trends, WGSN, and social/media platforms for data collection and insight extraction.

Support silhouette direction and updates for current and upcoming seasons.
