Graduate Trainee Accountant

About the position

As a Retail Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of our retail stores. You will be responsible for various accounting tasks, including financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Working closely with the finance team, you will contribute to the overall financial health and success of our retail business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cashbooks;
• Cash management & controls;
• Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile stock levels to financial records.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
• Manage and reconcile petty cash transactions.

Manage the debtor accounts of our optometry business, including issuing invoices, tracking outstanding payments, and following up on overdue accounts.

• Perform regular reconciliations of debtor balances, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the sales team to ensure accurate recording and processing of sales transactions.
• Handle inquiries and resolve customer issues related to billing and outstanding balances.
• Monitor cash transactions, including cash deposits, petty cash, and cash register reconciliations.
• Prepare and process bank deposits and ensure accurate allocation of funds.
• Maintain accurate records of cash transactions and perform regular cashbook reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to debtors and cashbook activities.
• Support the finance team in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal controls, and company policies.
• Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations related to debtors and cash management.

The ideal candidate:

• B.Com / B.Tech graduate;
• Residing near Cresta, Randburg.
