Geometric Engineer at Knight Piesold Consulting Engineers

About the position

We are looking for a Geometric Engineer/ Technologist to join our dynamic team in our Knight Piésold Cape Town office.

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant civil engineering degree.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in the geometric design of roads.
• Professionally registered (Pr.Eng or [URL Removed] Eng) will be advantageous.
• SANRAL roads experience is a must.
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Infraworks design software packages.
• Must have strong verbal and report writing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design the vertical and horizontal alignment of roads and highways, including curves, gradients, intersections, and transitions, to ensure safe and efficient transportation routes.
• Optimizing geometric design elements to enhance traffic flow, improve safety, minimize environmental impact and meet regulatory standards and guidelines.
• Ensuring that geometric designs comply with relevant engineering standards, regulations, and codes, such as those set forth by transportation agencies and authorities.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including civil services engineers, structural engineers, transportation planners, environmental specialists, and stakeholders, to integrate geometric design considerations into overall project plans.
• Providing technical support during the construction phase of projects, including reviewing construction plans, addressing design modifications, and resolving geometric-related issues that may arise on-site.
