About the position
Our client, a reputable business in the generator industry, is currently looking to hire an Electrician to join their growing team based in Midrand, Johannesburg. In this role, you will undertake installations and electrical repairs of generators and other electrical appliances ensuring effective and safe electrical connections to minimize the probability of accidents and maximize usability on all sites.
Minimum Requirements:
- Trade-tested Electrician
- Wireman's license
- At least 3 years' experience in the generator industry
- Exposure to diesel engines
- Valid code EC or similar driver's license
- Willingness to work shifts and overnight, where required
- Computer literacy skills: MS Office, Internet and E-mail
Main duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare planning for installations, repairs and maintenance
- Execute plans of electrical wiring for well-functioning deisel generators and other electrical systems
- Performing site inspections with sales consultants
- Installing and maintaining of gensets and other electrical equipment
- Fault-finding on genset control and generators
- Assembling and installing ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch)
- Programming and modifying controller
- Changing gensets from 3 phase to single phase; and vice versa
- Undertaking site supervision
- Attending to call outs/ being on standby
- Preventing breakdown of gensets by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc
- Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units
- Explaining the functionality of the generator ATS to the client
- Ensuring that the company vehicle is neat and clean
- Assisting in workshop when required to
- Travel nationally when required to perform duties
- Strictly complying with the Company's Smoking Policy, Alcohol and Drug Policy and Code of Conduct in execution of duties
