About the position

Job purpose:

Plan, direct, and coordinate the operations of an organisation or a business unit within an organisation. Rather than focusing on one functional area of management, such as HR, procurement, or administration, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the business or business unit. overseeing the daily operations of a business segment, department, or stand-alone retail location. It is the general manager's responsibility to ensure strategic goals are met by setting operational procedures, creating and maintaining budgets, managing employees.

Main Output and Responsibilities

BUSINESS OPERATION

Planning, Finance, Regulations:

  • Develops / coordinates the development of long range and annual business plans
  • Coordinates the development of operating and capital budgets
  • Coordinates long range planning for the facility
  • Analyzes and monitors financial statements, and reviews income and expenses relative to plans, implements corrective measures as needed, and reports status monthly
  • Makes recommendations for capital improvements, supplies and equipment
  • Assures operational compliance with local, state, and federal laws
  • Maintains knowledge and compliance with all lease terms and contractual obligations

Administration:

  • Maintains a sound organizational structure
  • Assist with the development of operating procedures
  • Assist with the development of the emergency and safety procedures
  • Oversees and works with department heads to schedule, supervise and direct work of facility staff
  • Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings
  • Attends executive and board meetings
  • Communicates to controlling entity on a structured and timely basis

Operations:

  • Develops/implements general procedures. Approves specific operational procedures, and programs in harmony with the mission and general policies
  • Monitors the performance of all daily operations, functions, and services; assures high standards and total customer satisfaction
  • Establishes personnel policies; ensures proper hiring, training, supervising, personal development and corrective action in accordance with fair labor standards and safety
  • Ensures accurate recording of hourly labor and timely, accurate payroll processing
  • Manages and oversees all accounting, inventories, banking, audit procedures, cash flow, and establishes controls to safeguard funds and assets
  • Serves as ex-officio member of appropriate committees
  • Meets, greets, and welcomes prospective members where applicable
  • Oversees the care and maintenance of all physical assets and facilities
  • Coordinates the marketing and promotional programs to promote the company products and services
  • Establishes and monitors compliance with all purchasing policies and procedures
  • Ensures and initiates programs to provide customers with a variety of innovative functions, programs and events
  • Provide resolution of escalated customer service issues

STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

Internal

  • Maintain relations with all members of the management team and staff
  • Maintain relations with other departments within the organisation

External

  • Develop a Stakeholder engagement plan for the Institute in collaboration with other department
  • Manage relationships with department external service providers and ensuring stakeholders derive value from association and engagements with the company
  • Manage contracts in conjunction with the Legal department of all external services providers
  • Ensure compliance of Service Level Agreement by the service provider
  • Manage relationship with the Institute's external service providers

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Degree in Business Administration or Operations Management or related field
  • MBA/MBL is a requirement.
  • Post-Graduate qualification in Business Administration.
  • Certification in Operations Management (Six Sigma, Lean)
  • Minimum of 12 years' experience in a senior leadership role or similar support role, preferably within a corporate environment
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in strategic planning
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in project management
