About the position
An exciting opportunity exists for a General Manager with strong mining operations experience.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and control all mining operations to ensure optimum production is achieved
- Optimize extraction, movement and delivery of product to processing in an effective, efficient and safe way
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the plant's operations and ensure that the plant operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable regulations
- Oversee the allocation and utilization of resources, including equipment, machinery, and workforce
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure the timely availability of necessary resources
- Stay abreast of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to mining operations
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, permits, and licenses and promote a culture of safety among employees
- Stakeholder management
- Develop and manage budget allocations in collaboration with CFO, ensuring cost control and financial targets are met
- Develop accurate records and documentation required for regulatory reporting
- Prepare and present regular reports on mining operations, production performance, safety records, cost analysis, and other key performance indicators
Requirements:
- Degree in Commerce, Business Studies or related Field (Masters Degree preferred)
- 10 years' experience in Mining Operations (4.1 Legal Appointee experience preferred)
- 3-5 years' senior management experience
- Demonstrable ability to manage a multi-disciplinary Operations team
- Excellent financial and business acumen
