About the position
A prominent organization within the infrastructure and energy sector is seeking a senior legal executive to lead its legal operations division. This pivotal, on-site leadership role drives internal capability, reduces legal spending, and supports group-level restructuring.
Minimum Requirements:
- LLB or B Proc (NQF 8) plus an admitted attorney/ advocate.
- 10+ years' post-admission experience.
- Legal operations, corporate law, governance experience essential.
- Experience managing senior legal teams and cross-functional alignment.
- Exposure to both private and public sector environments.
- Legal Practice Council registered.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Driving the legal function's strategic and operational maturity during unbundling/restructuring.
- Reducing legal costs by building robust in-house capacity and better managing external panels.
- Addressing repeat audit findings and embedding effective legal knowledge management.
- Establishing and enforcing consistent frameworks, workflows and controls.
- Leading the transformation of legal operations into a world-class internal capability.
- Litigation or dispute resolution exposure is advantageous.
- Capable of engaging at board and EXCO level, while also building team capability and improving internal processes.
- Must have led or significantly contributed to legal operations., internal structuring or a legal center of excellence.
