About the position

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead the operations of a prominent theatre in Soweto. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the strategic vision, ensuring operational excellence, and enhancing the theatre's commercial and cultural impact.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
  • Degree in Management or related field (NQF Level 7)
  • Minimum of 10 years' senior management experience in operations or general management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Willingness to work overtime when required

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all operational aspects of the theatre
  • Develop and implement a sustainable business strategy
  • Oversee maintenance of theatre facilities, stage equipment, and assets
  • Drive high standards in customer and client service delivery
  • Lead and manage the theatre management team to achieve performance targets
  • Develop and implement operational plans (short, medium, and long-term)
  • Establish and maintain effective systems, processes, and performance standards
  • Drive marketing initiatives and revenue generation strategies
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships for diverse programming (e.g. music events, festivals, film screenings, and competitions)
  • Ensure effective communication channels and stakeholder engagement
