General Manager

About the position

A well-established company in Pretoria West is looking for an experienced General Manager to join their team!
Requirements:

• 3 – 5 years’ experience as a General Manger, Operations Manager or Warehouse Manager
• Matric or equivalent qualification
• Experience with imports, exports and cross border procurement

Duties:
Strategic Leadership and Business Development

• Formulate and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with overall business objectives
• Conduct market analysis to identify and capitalize on global export opportunities
• Define production goals and ensure consistent achievement through effective oversight
• Inspire and guide cross-functional teams toward operational excellence

International Sales and Market Expansion

• Lead and manage international sales initiatives across key global markets
• Develop and nurture strong relationships with distributors, agents and clients
• Design and implement targeted marketing strategies to promote products abroad

Manufacturing Operations Management

• Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations, from raw material procurement to final product dispatch
• Manage production planning, scheduling and optimal resource allocation
• Enforce quality control and safety compliance across all operations
• Supervise maintenance activities and warehouse/logistics functions
• Ensure full adherence to international trade laws and export regulations

Resource and Team Management

• Optimize the use of budgets, materials and equipment to support production efficiency
• Guarantee the availability of critical supplies and resources
• Lead recruitment, training and performance management for all team members

Continuous Improvement and Operational Efficiency

• Drive continuous improvement programs to enhance productivity and reduce costs
• Identify inefficiencies and implement innovative solutions for process optimization

Financial Oversight and Profitability

• Manage budgets effectively and ensure sustainable profitability
• Analyze financial data to pinpoint areas for cost reduction and revenue growth
• Negotiate favorable contracts with domestic and international stakeholders

Compliance and Risk Mitigation

• Ensure full compliance with local and international trade laws and regulations
• Identify, assess and mitigate potential business and operational risks
• Remain updated on global trade policy changes and adapt strategies accordingly
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when needed
• Stay informed on evolving industry trends and global best practices

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication

• Foster strong collaboration with internal departments such as Sales, Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain
• Communicate proactively with customers, suppliers and stakeholders to align goals and expectations
