About the position
A well-established company in Pretoria West is looking for an experienced General Manager to join their team!
Requirements:
- 3 – 5 years’ experience as a General Manger, Operations Manager or Warehouse Manager
- Matric or equivalent qualification
- Experience with imports, exports and cross border procurement
Duties:
Strategic Leadership and Business Development
- Formulate and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with overall business objectives
- Conduct market analysis to identify and capitalize on global export opportunities
- Define production goals and ensure consistent achievement through effective oversight
- Inspire and guide cross-functional teams toward operational excellence
International Sales and Market Expansion
- Lead and manage international sales initiatives across key global markets
- Develop and nurture strong relationships with distributors, agents and clients
- Design and implement targeted marketing strategies to promote products abroad
Manufacturing Operations Management
- Oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations, from raw material procurement to final product dispatch
- Manage production planning, scheduling and optimal resource allocation
- Enforce quality control and safety compliance across all operations
- Supervise maintenance activities and warehouse/logistics functions
- Ensure full adherence to international trade laws and export regulations
Resource and Team Management
- Optimize the use of budgets, materials and equipment to support production efficiency
- Guarantee the availability of critical supplies and resources
- Lead recruitment, training and performance management for all team members
Continuous Improvement and Operational Efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement programs to enhance productivity and reduce costs
- Identify inefficiencies and implement innovative solutions for process optimization
Financial Oversight and Profitability
- Manage budgets effectively and ensure sustainable profitability
- Analyze financial data to pinpoint areas for cost reduction and revenue growth
- Negotiate favorable contracts with domestic and international stakeholders
Compliance and Risk Mitigation
- Ensure full compliance with local and international trade laws and regulations
- Identify, assess and mitigate potential business and operational risks
- Remain updated on global trade policy changes and adapt strategies accordingly
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when needed
- Stay informed on evolving industry trends and global best practices
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication
- Foster strong collaboration with internal departments such as Sales, Marketing, Finance and Supply Chain
- Communicate proactively with customers, suppliers and stakeholders to align goals and expectations
