About the position
Our client is a well-established non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of children through specialised education and therapeutic support services. They are seeking an experienced and strategic Fundraising Manager to lead and grow their fundraising portfolio. This senior role is responsible for driving the organisation's financial sustainability through the development and execution of innovative fundraising strategies, cultivating meaningful donor relationships, and ensuring the achievement of annual fundraising targets.
Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy & Revenue Growth
Develop and implement an overarching fundraising strategy encompassing corporates, trusts and foundations, major donors, and individual giving initiatives.
Work closely with leadership and the Board to establish fundraising objectives and annual income targets.
- Manage the fundraising budget and drive initiatives to achieve and exceed revenue goals.
- Identify and pursue new fundraising opportunities locally and internationally.
Donor & Stakeholder Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective donors, including corporates, charitable trusts, foundations, institutional funders, and high-net-worth individuals.
Attend networking events, meetings, and engagements to strengthen partnerships and secure funding opportunities.
Host and coordinate donor visits and engagement initiatives.
- Maintain and expand relationships with schools, community organisations, and corporate partners.
Grant Writing & Funding Proposals
- Research and identify funding opportunities from national and international sources.
- Develop compelling funding proposals and grant applications.
- Prepare and submit progress reports and impact reports to funders.
- Ensure all donor interactions and applications are accurately maintained within the donor management system.
Individual Giving & Campaign Management
Conceptualise and manage individual giving programmes, including monthly donor campaigns, debit order initiatives, awareness campaigns, and special giving days.
Develop and implement alumni giving initiatives and community fundraising campaigns.
- Drive school-based fundraising initiatives and awareness campaigns.
- Manage and grow the organisation's bequest programme and in-kind donation initiatives.
Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorships
- Develop and strengthen BBBEE partnerships and sponsorship opportunities.
- Build strategic relationships with corporate partners to increase long-term support and funding.
- Conceptualise and execute innovative fundraising initiatives and campaigns to broaden the donor base.
Events & Volunteer Management
- Plan and coordinate fundraising events and activities.
- Lead, motivate, and support volunteers involved in fundraising initiatives.
- Ensure successful execution of campaigns and events to maximise engagement and fundraising [URL Removed] & Governance
- Prepare regular fundraising reports and presentations for leadership and the Board of Trustees.
- Monitor fundraising performance against targets and provide strategic recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and fundraising best practices.
- Manage donor administration, including the distribution of Section 18A tax certificates.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years fundraising experience within a non-profit environment.
- Proven experience in grant writing, donor relationship management, and business development.
Strong understanding of the Non-Profit Organisations Act and BBBEE legislation, particularly relating to sponsorship and donor partnerships.
Experience managing diverse fundraising portfolios, including trusts, foundations, corporates, and individual giving programmes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, MS Teams, and donor management/CRM systems.
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans; additional South African languages will be advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel as required.
