About the position

ENVIRONMENT:

PROVIDE efficient and resilient operational capabilities including settlement services, safekeeping and asset services as the next Fund Operations Specialist sought by an innovative provider of advanced Financial Security Services in Johannesburg. You will execute and oversee all aspects of Fund Operations including Trade reporting (investment instructions) to be processed timeously, ensuring Trade confirmations/settlements are delivered, facilitating fund pricing while participating in the execution of failure scenario planning, testing and simulation exercises. The successful incumbent must Grade 12/Matric or equivalent, preferably possess a Commerce Degree and have 2+ years’ experience in Post Trade Services in the Capital Markets & 2+ years industry experience involving LISP, CIS and Offshore Investments an advantage.

DUTIES:

Business Process (Internal Process) –

  • Adhere to operational processes and strong internal controls for trade processing, custody, settlement, asset servicing, reconciliations and reporting.
  • Monitor and identify changes in operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Execute and oversee of all aspects of Fund Operations, including but not limited to:
    • Trade reporting (investment instructions) is processed timeously.
    • Trade confirmations/settlements are delivered timeously.
    • Facilitate fund pricing.
    • Market settlement(s) is processed at agreed times and reconciled before end of day.
    • Ensure bank transactions are execute accurately and timely.
    • Ensure client queries and escalations are responded to with the required urgency.
    • Company Bank Accounts reconciled daily.
    • Timely processing of corporate actions, including income distributions.
    • Facilitate fund, fund provider and account timely setup.

  • Collaborate and align with other divisions to ensure frictionless operations, including Finance, IT, Compliance, Risk, etc.

Enable clients centric within area of responsibility (Client Services) –

  • Develop strong relationships with clients, maintaining the company’s high standards of client service.

Self-management and teamwork (People) –

  • Actively participate in own professional development and career path.
  • Ensure achievement of own performance objectives.
  • Actively share information with other team members regarding successes, issues, trends and ideas.

Contribute to financial controls and planning (Finance) -

Risk and Compliance:

  • Ensure Risk Management procedures are followed are all times.
  • Ensure monitoring controls are adhered to.
  • Complete operational dashboards as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements globally, internal policies, rules and directives.
  • Participate in the execution of failure scenario planning, testing and simulation exercises.
  • Participate in BCP Testing where applicable.

Business Growth:

  • Be a project resource ensuring operational readiness for the implementing of client take-ons and migrations in the most efficient and effective manner, ensuring post implementation issues and risks are minimised

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Graduate in a Commerce Degree preferable.
  • 2+ Years industry experience involving LISP, CIS and Offshore Investments an advantage.
  • 2+ Years’ experience in Post Trade Services in the Capital Markets.
  • Effective process management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc).
  • Proficiency in similar, but relevant, IT terminology, software and systems used in Fund Operations.
