An Investment firm is looking for an Accountant - Investment Management in our Finance Function to take end-of-the-end ownership of accounting, reporting, and compliance across three investment entities and their underlying funds (including those in Mauritius)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a hands-on, mid-level finance role: the incumbent prepares IFRS-compliant financial statements, update entity-level cash flow forecasting, and reports directly to funders (when required), the internal Investment Committee (HIRIC), and the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) at times.
Beyond the numbers, this person is expected to have a working understanding of valuation methodology be responsible for statutory and corporate finance audits with the assistance of the investment team, contribute to ad hoc projects across the business, and integrate closely with the wider finance and investment team. This is a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities - the role suits someone who is comfortable owning relationships with funders and committees directly, not just producing the numbers behind the scenes.
Funder & Committee Reporting
- Preparation and delivery of quarterly financial reports to funders for each of the three investment entities, tailored to individual funder requirements, covenants and deadlines, incorporating inputs from the investment team and the finance team.
- Maintain entity-level cash flow models based on input from the investment team and the finance team; present cash flow forecasts and actuals directly to the internal and external Investment Committee and if required, the Audit and Risk Committee.
- Act as a secondary finance point of contact for funders - responding to queries, managing information requests, and maintaining a professional, trusted relationship on an ongoing basis (not only at quarter-end).
- Translate financial and valuation information into the financial statements of the entities.
- Track the finance agreement covenants as stated in the agreements.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or equivalent (Honours preferred).
- Post graduate academic qualification in Accounting/ Investment or Financial Management
- Completed SAICA/SAIPA articles or equivalent with a reputable firm- if none, experience in investment management is non negotiable.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards, including IFRS 9 and IFRS 13.
- Solid understanding of investment structures, valuation principles (DCF, PORT, NAV), and fund accounting concepts - sufficient to review
- Minimum 2 years' post-articles experience, preferably in financial services, investment management, or auditing.
- Experience leading (not just supporting) statutory and/or corporate finance audits.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting across multiple entities.
- Demonstrated experience in SARB reporting, regulatory filings, and exchange control compliance.
- Demonstrated experience managing funder, investor, or committee relationships directly - not only preparing information for others to present.
Non-Negotiables:
- Advanced Excel skills, evidenced by an FMVA (Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst) certification or an equivalent recognized modeling/valuation qualification - self-reported Excel proficiency alone is not sufficient.
- Proven experience using CaseWare for financial statement preparation.
