Our client, market leader in the South African Roadside Assistance Services, is currently recruiting a hybrid position for a Full Stack Web Developer.

Job Grade
Systems in Scope AA website and public web applications, including the membership sales platform and its API, the roadside assistance sign-up app, and the internal web administration portal.
Purpose of the Role
This role owns day-to-day development, maintenance, and enhancement of the AA's public-facing website and web applications, spanning front-end, back-end, database, and deployment work. It covers the membership and product sales platform, the roadside assistance sign-up application, and supporting administrative tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and extend the AA website including public tools such as vehicle rates calculators, fuel pricing displays, and route and distance calculators.
- Develop and support backend services using PHP and Node.js, containerised and served through standard web server infrastructure.
- Maintain the online membership and product sales platform and its supporting API.
- Support the roadside assistance sign-up application and the internal web administration portal, resolving defects and delivering enhancements.
- Manage PostgreSQL data stores for production and QA environments, including schema changes and query performance.
- Build and deploy through a containerised CI/CD pipeline, following established build, versioning, and release practices.
- Maintain integrations with third-party systems for CRM, payment processing, and email/SMS notifications.
- Apply secure coding practices, particularly around authentication flows and payment data handling.
- Participate in incident response and rollback procedures for production systems.
- Work within the AA's outsourced IT model, coordinating with external infrastructure and hosting partners.

Required Skills and Experience
- 3+ years' professional experience in full-stack web development, with production PHP and Node.js experience.
- Working knowledge of Docker, NGINX, and Apache in a containerised deployment environment.
- Hands-on WordPress development, including custom plugin maintenance.
- PostgreSQL experience, including query writing and schema management.
- Experience with cloud-based CI/CD tooling, including container registries and Git-based pipelines (AWS experience an advantage).
- Experience integrating third-party REST APIs and webhooks; payment gateway or CRM integration experience is an advantage.
- Understanding of secure authentication flows and TLS for data in transit.
- Comfortable working with a QA-to-production promotion process and a defined rollback approach.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology
- Relevant certifications (AWS, Docker) are an advantage but not a requirement.

- Ownership of production systems, including calm handling of live incidents.
- Works well within a small, outsourced IT structure and coordinates directly with external vendors.
