About the position
Finance
Department Budget Control:
? Ensure the controlling of monthly FTE budgets -Scheduling of all front end staff members
? Assist in Daily/weekly/monthly control of front end contractors in line with the expense budgets
? Ensure that a monthly expense analyses is completed, variances noted and explanations provided
? Daily monitor and control of cashier shortages and overages in accordance with budget allowance
Control and Monitoring of DM, Supervisors, Cashiers, Cash Office:
? Ensure all Front end policies and procedures are adhered to
? Ensure maintenance of all Point of Sale Equipment if faulty reported to IT department
Shrinkage:
? Ensure cashiers adhere to till processes including accurate ringing up of stock, trolley-to-trolley procedures
? Ensure PLU books are maintained and updated when necessary if in use in store
? Ensure the resolving of price differences daily
? Liaise with other Makro Stores and Risk Departments regarding payment fraud i.e. credit card and cheques
? Daily monitor and control of supervisor interventions at POS
? Maintain and control of all payment methods and front end POS paperwork - daily
? Ensure corrective action is taken against cashiers for excessive over and under ringing of stock
? Spot checks to be done randomly on end controllers
? Inform your manager of any unusual activities such as Shortages, End-Control Errors, Customer and Staff Complaints, Suspicious behaviour
? Note and control the frequency of cashier over and under rings
? Ensure supervisors are conducting cashier float counts weekly
People Management
Induction of new employees:
? Ensure Induction is completed within stipulated time frame
? Ensure that all new staff undergo orientation
Employment equity targets:
? Ensure achievement of initiatives in support of store equity plan when recruiting for the department
Performance Management:
? Signed role clarity in place for all employees
? Performance contract in place for all
? Complete regular performance evaluations
? Signed PDD's in place for all employees
? Maintain appropriate level of discipline
? Take appropriate disciplinary action
? Conduct monthly score card and one on one discussions with all staff
? Manage staff adherence to working schedule
? Complete regular PDR's to improve staff morale
? Ensure staff is cross -skilled to ensure continuity of all functions
? Energy level improvement
? Manage time keeping and working hours
? Effective planning for weekends and festive season trading
? Manage Team Delivery based on performance plans
Staff development and succession:
? Ensure that the % is achieved for training and development plans
? Ensure that a succession plan is in place for individual departments
? Ensure Development plan is in place for all individuals
? Ensure % staff that have completed mandatory CBTs are recorded
? Ensure % staff that have completed functional CBTs are recorded
? Ensure Signed Role Clarity document is in place for each staff member
