Responsibilities:
- Co-teach within a shared Foundation Phase class, sharing responsibilities for planning, instruction, and assessment
- Design and deliver captivating, play-based, enquiry-driven lessons that promote curiosity, exploration, and experiential learning
- Facilitate learning in Learning Hubs and Enquiry Studios through small-group, guided, and independent activities
- Assess and monitor learner progress, providing targeted interventions and support
- Create a nurturing classroom environment that encourages movement, curiosity, and differentiated instruction
- Build respectful, trusting relationships with learners, colleagues, and parents
- Engage actively in team planning, professional development, and contributing to a future-focused Foundation Phase model
- For the Grade 1 position: manage the transition from play-based Grade R learning to the more formal reading, writing and number-work demands of Grade 1, including a wide spread of school-readiness levels within one class
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Education (Foundation Phase) or equivalent, with current SACE registration
- 2–5 years of proven classroom teaching experience in the Foundation Phase (Grades R–3)
- Demonstrated experience with CAPS curriculum and enquiry-based Foundation Phase pedagogies and child development knowledge
- Skilled in early literacy and numeracy instruction, classroom management, and learner support strategies
- Confident in integrating technology into teaching and learning
- Strong planning, lesson design, and curriculum development skills
Nice to Have:
- Experience using structured literacy programmes, read-aloud methodologies, and story-based learning approaches
- Familiarity with integrated assessment and observation strategies
