About the position

?? Forensic Investigations at a National Forestry Powerhouse.

?? Location: Nelspruit (with regular national travel).
?? 24-Month Fixed-Term Contract.
????? Reporting Line: Senior Manager - Forensic Investigations.

A dynamic, state-owned company operating in the forestry and land management sector is on the hunt for a sharp, agile and mission-driven Forensic Investigator to join its expanding Audit and Risk function.

With strategic assets across Limpopo, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and parts of Mozambique, this role is not for the desk-bound. If you enjoy the challenge of uncovering fraud in remote operations, influencing ethical behaviour, and making tangible impact in natural resource stewardship - this is your calling.

?? About the Role.
This is a newly created position within a restructured audit environment. As Forensic Investigator, you will:

  • Lead investigations into theft, fraud, supply chain irregularities and conflicts of interest.
  • Develop and implement anti-fraud strategies across geographically dispersed operations.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, testify in proceedings, and help shape the anti-corruption framework of a critical public-sector entity.

? Minimum Requirements.

  • Bachelor's Degree (NQF 7) in Accounting, Law, Forensics, Internal Audit or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8) is a distinct advantage.
  • Professional certification: Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Fraud Practitioner SA (FPSA) or equivalent.
  • Registered member of ACFE, ICFP or a recognised forensic body.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in forensic investigations, fraud risk management, or forensic auditing.
  • Previous law enforcement or criminal investigation experience is highly desirable.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel nationally.
  • Previous exposure to public sector compliance frameworks (e.g. PFMA) is an advantage.

?? Ideal Candidate Traits.

  • Young, energetic, and highly mobile.
  • Analytical and meticulous with a flair for digital forensics.
  • Able to work independently in remote, operational environments.
  • Comfortable leading interviews, gathering evidence, and testifying.
  • Passionate about ethical governance and public service integrity.

??? What Makes This Role Unique?

  • Based in Nelspruit, close to head operations.
  • Travel across rural and urban asset sites in three provinces and Mozambique.
  • Join a transforming audit unit, in a company driving sustainability and land reform.
  • Relocation assistance provided (incl. furniture relocation support).

? Ask Yourself - Are You a Fit?

  • Do I have 5+ years' forensic investigation or auditing experience?
  • Am I professionally certified (e.g. CFE, FPSA) and registered with ACFE/ICFP?
  • Can I travel regularly and adapt to forestry or remote work environments?
  • Am I comfortable testifying in disciplinary or legal forums?
  • Am I open to relocating to Nelspruit with relocation support?

If you answered YES to 4 or more - we want to hear from you!
