Food Service Aid - 24 Months Contract

About the position

SKILLED PROFESSIONAL CONTRACT WORKER - FOR A PERIOD OF TWENTY-FOUR (24) MONTHS ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASIS
JOB DESCRIPTION 

• Rendering assistance with the preparation and serving of food/drinks in all its forms by: Hygiene preparation (i.e. wash, cut and cook) and serving of food
• Preparing and serving tea, coffee and drinks
• Supplying water on dining hall and food storage areas clean and tidy
• Removing all kitchen waste
• Arranging refreshments for the meetings
• Washing and cleaning up after meals
• Setting tables (including decoration thereof)
• Waiting on tables
• Ensure only authorized personnel have access to the kitchen and/or consume meals
• Ensure serviceability of equipment and report any defects or shortages
• Apply a high standard of hygiene as well as safety measures in work environment

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• NQF level 1 or 2 (ABET level 2 certificate or equivalent)
• Ability to read and write. Basic food preparation knowledge and skills. Basic Hygiene and principles. Good communication skills. Effective team working skills. Problem identification skills. Ability to perform routine / structural tasks. Ability to operate food service equipment. Able to work shifts as well as over weekends and holidays.
