About the position
A well-established manufacturing company based in Malalane is seeking a skilled Food Scientist or Chemist to assist in product quality management and the operation of various laboratory functions. This role reports directly to the Quality Manager. Should you have any queries call Antoinette or Kaylin on 0861 FENRIS (336747).
Responsibilities:
Revise and improve standard operating procedures for oil processing and oil products.
Research and implement oil testing protocols.
Source the most cost effective and suitable resources to execute work related to oil products (primary) and other products (secondary).
Quality control test of preliminary & final packed product (oil and other).
Interpretation of test result to improve product quality and control thereof.
Manage laboratory functions such as orders, equipment services and client samples.
Assist, train and guide personnel on new laboratory protocols and good practices.
Prepare reports and compile trends on status and progress of the company in terms of product quality.
Attend to and execute basic laboratory functions.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, food science, and/or fruit oil related field
Three to five years' experience in the Food and/or Beverage Industry
Understanding and knowledge of standard fruit oil techniques and procedures
Computer literacy (MS Office).
Structured training in a Quality Management, FSSC 22000, laboratory & site quality and Food Safety certification programmes
