About the position

Fitter & Turner who has 2-5 yrs exp in the FMCG industry required at a food processor in Pietermaritzburg. This incumbent will ensure that downtime is reduced to a minimum by attending to breakdowns and also doing preventative maintenance whilst upholding safety, hygiene and quality standards. Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and advanced fault-finding on production and plant machinery.
Diagnose mechanical faults and execute repairs to restore functionality.
Manufacture, assemble, and install machine parts and new machinery using precision tools.
Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimize downtime.
Interpret engineering drawings and ensure compliance with standards.
Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide root cause feedback.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and requisitions.
Perform machine calibrations, setups, and support automation improvements.
Collaborate to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
Contribute to continuous improvement projects.
Uphold safety, hygiene, and quality standards in a food environment.

Requirements:
Recognised Trade Test qualification as a Fitter and Turner or Millwright.
3 to 5 years' post-trade experience in a plant maintenance role, preferably within food, beverage, or FMCG manufacturing.
Skilled in using precision tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders.
Basic knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, welding (ARC, TIG, MIG) advantageous.
Willingness to work overtime, and standby as needed.
