About the position
Position: Fitter & Turner / Millwright
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter & Turner/Millwright with strong mechanical maintenance and precision machining capabilities. The ideal candidate must be proficient in CNC operations, mechanical fault-finding, and the accurate assembly, repair, and installation of mechanical components across both workshop and site environments.
Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems and machinery
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns
- Dismantle, assemble, and accurately fit mechanical components
- Install mechanical equipment in line with engineering standards and specifications
Machining & CNC Operations
- Program, set up, and operate CNC turning machines
- Interpret CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code)
- Carry out precision machining on both manual and CNC lathes
- Operate and set up milling machines (manual essential; CNC experience advantageous)
- Ensure high-quality outputs by measuring tolerances using micrometers, verniers, and other precision instruments
Workshop & On-Site Responsibilities
- Operate workshop machinery, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drills
- Assist with breakdown call-outs and perform equipment inspections
- Maintain tools and machinery while ensuring safe working practices at all times
Key Skills & Competencies
- CNC programming (turning)
- High-level precision fitting and machining capability
- Proficiency in reading engineering and CNC machining drawings
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics (advantageous)
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure with a strong commitment to safety
