About the position
Our client, a specialist fire protection consultancy, is seeking a Fire Engineer to join their Gauteng-based hybrid team. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who is passionate about fire safety design, compliance, and delivering innovative protection solutions across diverse building environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of fire protection systems including sprinklers, fire detection, suppression, and evacuation systems
- Oversee fire engineering projects from concept design through to commissioning
- Conduct fire risk assessments and code compliance reviews in line with SANS 10400-T and related standards
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to develop integrated fire safety solutions
- Ensure all designs and deliverables meet regulatory requirements and project specifications
- Stay current with fire engineering technologies, standards, and regulatory updates
- Support project coordination, documentation, and technical reporting
Minimum Requirements:
- BEng / BSc / BTech in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Engineering
- Candidate registration with ECSA as Candidate Engineer or Candidate Technologist (advantageous)
- 3 - 5 years' experience in fire engineering design and implementation
- Strong knowledge of fire codes and standards, including SANS 10400-T
- Proficiency in fire engineering software such as Canute and AutoCAD
- Experience in fire risk assessments and code compliance reviews
- Strong communication and project coordination skills
