About the Role
We are a leading events company seeking a skilled and detail-oriented FinOps Lead to oversee our finance operations for cashless events. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely settlements, and smooth financial processes. You will work closely with the CFO, managing a FinOps Assistant and collaborating with teams across the business.
In this role, you will manage the financial operations related to event reconciliation, cashless and ticketing settlements, and treasury processes. You will ensure timely, accurate, and efficient financial execution while contributing to the commercial decision-making of the business by scrutinizing cost recovery, quoting, and reporting processes. The FinOps Lead will also serve as a cross-functional communicator, working closely with Finance, Customer Success, and the Executive team to deliver insights and resolve financial escalations.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate cashless event reports and settlement calculations.
- Assign and follow up on reconciliation exceptions.
- Prepare or oversee sign-off packs for event settlements.
- Liaise with the Customer Success team to validate client-specific revenue components.
Skills & Requirements
Educational Background
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- CIMA/SAIPA/SAICA articles are advantageous.
Professional Experience
- 3-5 years in financial operations or financial analysis, ideally in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
- Experience in the events, fintech, SaaS, or payment processing industries is a bonus.
Tech-Savviness
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills, with experience in automated reconciliation processes.
- Comfortable with financial systems, CRMs, or ERP platforms.
Systems Implementation
- Proven track record in building, implementing, or improving financial systems through automation, integrations, or process enhancements.
Analytical & Commercial Acumen
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to scrutinize data, spot inefficiencies, and recommend cost-saving measures.
- Ability to interpret data for pricing, quoting, and margin decisions.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with executives, finance teams, and client-facing teams.
- Able to simplify complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.

- Able to work under pressure, especially during event weekends or financial close periods.
