About the position

Job Description:


The purpose of this role is to ensure that efficient, cost-effective business solutions and processes are in place to address business needs/requirements within the financial services sector. The role facilitates effective and competitive business processes by eliciting, analysing, validating, and documenting business, organisational, and/or operational requirements related to financial transactions, payment systems, and banking processes.


As a Financial Systems Functional Analyst, you will act as a bridge between the business unit, organisational stakeholders, and the solution team, focusing specifically on financial systems, such as debit card implementation/transactions, EFT out, PayShap, and other digital payment solutions.




RequirementsKey Responsibilities:


  • Requirements Elicitation & Documentation: Gather and document business requirements specific to financial transaction systems, such as debit card processing, EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) transactions, and real-time payment platforms like PayShap. Ensure these requirements meet the needs of business units, including regulatory compliance and financial security standards.
  • System Design & Configuration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system designers and solution architects, to co-create sustainable financial solutions, such as automated EFT processing, secure debit card implementation/transactions, and integration with digital payment platforms like PayShap.
  • Business Process Optimisation: Analyse existing financial processes related to debit card management, EFT outflows, and payments to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions that increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Testing & Validation: Lead the testing and validation of low to medium complexity financial applications, ensuring that systems related to debit card implementation/transactions, EFT, and digital payment methods like PayShap are accurate, reliable, and meet both business and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders, including financial teams, and the solution team. Translate business needs into technical specifications for financial systems, ensuring alignment between all parties.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure that all financial systems and processes, such as debit card systems and EFT transactions, adhere to industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, AML, KYC).
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to ongoing improvements in banking and payment systems by identifying and implementing process efficiencies and emerging technologies in the banking and financial services sector.
Required Skills & Experience:


  • Proven experience in banking, financial services, or payment systems analysis, specifically with systems like debit card implementation and transactions, EFT flows, and products like PayShap or similar payment platforms.
  • Strong expertise in business analysis and process optimisation within the financial services industry, particularly focusing on transaction management and digital payment solutions.
  • Specialised knowledge in systems analysis, including the creation, configuration, and testing of low to medium complexity applications for financial services.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, including compliance with PCI-DSS, AML (Anti-Money Laundering), KYC (Know Your Customer), and other industry standards.
  • Experience with integrating and optimising financial systems, including transaction processing systems, payment gateways, and EFT solutions.
  • Proficiency in using financial software platforms, transaction management systems, and banking applications.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to understand complex financial business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with agile methodologies and financial solution development processes.
  • Experience with testing and validating financial applications or payment system integrations.
  • Knowledge of emerging payment technologies and trends within the banking and financial sector.
  • Relevant certifications in financial systems analysis or banking operations.
