About the position
The Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for leading the financial reporting function at the company, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial statements and reports. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of financial controls. The ideal candidate will manage the preparation of monthly management accounts, assist in quarterly reporting to the Board, as well as assist in the preparation of Annual Financial Statements.
In addition, the candidate will drive process improvements, enhance financial controls, and provide strategic support to the Head of Finance as a key 2IC.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting Compliance
- Lead the preparation of monthly management reports and provide insights and analysis to the Head of Finance and CFO.
- Oversee the preparation and reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts.
- Assist in compiling and formatting of monthly reports required by funders and the Board.
- Support the Head of Finance and CFO with Annual Financial Statements and the External audit.
- Maintain compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal policies.
- Assist the Head of Finance with maintaining and enhancing forecasting models
Process Improvement Financial Controls
- Identify and implement efficiencies to streamline financial reporting.
- Drive continuous improvements in financial analysis tools, dashboards, and performance metrics.
- Ensure robust internal controls are in place and are continuously refined
Leadership Team Management
- Assist in managing and developing a team of 3 finance professionals.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, rigor, and continuous learning within the team.
- Provide strategic support to the Head of Finance and act as a deputy in their absence.
- CA (SA) 3 – 6 years post-articles experience in financial reporting, preferably in a B2C business
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and familiarity with IFRS
- Experience in preparing Management Accounts, managing financial audits and preparing financial statements
- Strong track record in budget management, variance analysis, and business case development
- Proficiency in financial systems and ERP platforms; strong Excel skills required
- Experience in managing debtors and operational finance is a strong advantage
- Proven ability to manage and develop other finance individuals is advantageous
