Are you a seasoned financial professional with a knack for optimizing operations within the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector? We're seeking a meticulous Financial Operations Controller to join our pharmaceutical manufacturing client's team in Johannesburg. If you possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and expertise in financial principles and systems, this role could be for you.
As the Financial Operations Controller, you will oversee and optimize financial operations within our pharmaceutical manufacturing division. This role requires a deep understanding of financial regulations and practices within the pharmaceutical industry, coupled with the ability to forecast, budget, and leverage SAP systems effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Lead the financial planning and budgeting process for the manufacturing division, collaborating with department heads and senior management.
  • Ensure timely uploads of monthly sales information into the global reporting system and reconcile with the ERP system.
  • Provide monthly headcount reporting to regional controllers and manage consumption quantities for raw materials.
  • Track and monitor capital expenditure budgets, implementing cost control measures and identifying opportunities for optimization.

Costing:

  • Prepare annual Cost of Production calculations and maintain costing of Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  • Review purchasing info records and standard costs regularly, identifying material price variances and implementing corrective measures.
  • Maintain Price Set Tables (PST) and engage with stakeholders to obtain necessary information.

Inventory Management:

  • Participate in manufacturing planning meetings, analyse inventory levels, and trends, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Oversee inventory management processes, including valuation, reconciliation, and cycle counts.
  • Calculate expired stock provisions monthly and engage with stakeholders to mitigate risks.

Financial Systems and Technology:

  • Evaluate and optimize financial systems and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

Ad-hoc:

  • Creation of investment orders for capital expenditure, monthly capitalization of placed devices.
  • Assist with preparation of slides for management meetings and act as a backup for the Financial Controller.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization to drive alignment and achieve common objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance/CIMA preferred.

Skills & Experience:

  • 4 - 8 years in a similar Controlling role at a large multinational, highly proficient in Excel, SAP experience essential.
