Salary: R20,000 CTC neg depending on experience

Our client, an established manufacturing company, is seeking a hands-on and commercially focused Financial Manager to provide clear financial information and strengthen cash flow, profitability and financial controls. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing Bookkeeper to ensure accounting records are accurate and converted into reliable management reports and practical business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly financial close and preparation of management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and explanations of key variances.
- Maintain rolling cash-flow forecasts, prepare budgets and recommend actions relating to collections, supplier payments and working capital.
- Review job and product costing, selling margins, material usage and production waste to identify losses and recommend pricing and cost improvements.
- Review the Bookkeeper's work, including reconciliations, debtor and creditor balances, payroll controls and supporting financial records.
- Work with stock control and production teams to reconcile inventory quantities and values, investigate variances and assess slow-moving or obsolete stock.
- Strengthen payment approvals and financial controls and coordinate applicable tax and statutory submissions, year-end requirements and external accountant or auditor requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience preparing and explaining management accounts, budgets and cash-flow forecasts.
- Experience with financial controls and financial reporting.
- Practical manufacturing costing and inventory accounting experience.
- Experience in the printing or packaging industry will be advantageous.
- Relevant Accounting or Finance qualification, or equivalent substantial experience.
- A recognised professional accounting designation will be advantageous.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and accounting-system skills.
- Sound commercial judgement and ability to analyse financial information.
- Ability to identify and challenge unexplained financial figures constructively.
- Strong understanding of cash flow, profitability, costing and working capital management.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a hands-on, commercially minded and results-driven Financial Manager who can clearly explain where money is being made or lost, identify cash-flow risks early and work with management to implement corrective actions.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and must have the ability to turn financial information into practical business decisions that support profitability and cash-flow improvement.
Agreed objectives and structured performance reviews will form part of the appointment.
