About the position

Position open to all races.

The Finance Manager is a hands-on, commercially engaged leadership role that sits within the finance function and reports directly to the CFO. The successful candidate will not simply manage books - they will be an active contributor to the operational and strategic success of the business. In a company growing rapidly across manufacturing, franchising and corporate retail, this person must be comfortable operating across multiple business models simultaneously, building scalable financial systems, and supporting all departments with financial intelligence and practical guidance.

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Oversee the full accounting function: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, financial statements and variance analysis for the CFO
  • Manage daily cash flow, forecasting and working capital across all business channels
  • Prepare and submit all statutory returns: VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL and income tax to SARS on time
  • Coordinate the annual external audit and serve as the primary liaison with auditors
  • Develop/Assist and monitor annual budgets and rolling forecasts by department and business unit
  • Design and enforce internal financial controls, policies and approval frameworks
  • Support the CFO with board reporting, investor presentations and financial modelling

Manufacturing Finance & BOM Management:

  • Take ownership of the Bill of Materials (BOM) process for all mattress and bedding products
  • Maintain accurate product costing models reflecting raw materials, labour, overheads and wastage
  • Monitor and investigate production cost variances and drive corrective action with the factory team
  • Oversee stock control, raw material procurement finance, cycle counts and annual stock takes
  • Track and report on manufacturing KPIs: yield rates, material utilisation, cost-per-unit and production margins
  • Collaborate with procurement to negotiate supplier terms and manage landed cost calculations

Franchise Network Finance:

  • Manage the financial relationship with franchisees including invoicing of franchise fees and marketing levies
  • Monitor franchisee account balances, credit exposure and payment compliance
  • Prepare consolidated and individual franchisee financial performance reports
  • Assist in the financial onboarding of new franchisees including setup of accounts, fee structures and reporting templates
  • Support the development and review of the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) financial schedules
  • Ensure franchise financial obligations comply with the Consumer Protection Act and franchise agreement terms
  • Liaise with franchisees on queries, reconciliations and financial support as required

Corporate Store Finance:

  • Produce individual store profit and loss statements and monitor performance against budget
  • Manage daily and weekly cash-up reconciliations, till variances and bank deposits for all corporate stores
  • Track store-level KPIs: revenue, gross margin, shrinkage, stock turn and cost of sales
  • Support store managers with financial reporting tools and interpreting their numbers
  • Analyse promotional campaign effectiveness and provide post-promotion financial reviews
  • Assist with the financial planning and feasibility assessment for new corporate store openings
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset registers for each store including CAPEX tracking

Payroll Administration:

  • Oversee and review the full monthly payroll for all manufacturing, retail and head office employees
  • Ensure accurate processing of earnings, deductions, commissions, overtime and statutory contributions
  • Submit EMP201 and EMP501 reconciliations to SARS and manage PAYE compliance
  • Manage Employment Equity, COIDA, SETA reporting and ensure compliance according to regulations
  • Maintain payroll records, ensure confidentiality and adhere to relevant bargaining council agreements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • B.Com Accounting, Finance or related degree (essential)
  • SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA or equivalent professional designation (advantageous)
    Experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in a Finance Manager or Senior Accountant role
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with strong BOM and production costing knowledge
  • Experience working in or supporting a franchise or multi-site retail business (highly advantageous)
  • Demonstrated ability to produce individual business unit or store-level P&Ls
  • Proven payroll management experience using Payspace, VIP or similar
  • Solid understanding of South African tax legislation, SARS e-filing and statutory compliance
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Syspro
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including financial modelling and pivot tables
