This is not a transactional finance role. It is a leadership position requiring strong governance oversight, technical excellence, and the ability to partner with executive stakeholders in a complex, multi-entity environment.

The Role
Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Manager will:
Financial Leadership & Governance
- Lead and manage the full accounting function across the organisation and associated trusts
- Ensure compliance with IFRS for SMEs and corporate governance standards
- Develop, implement and maintain robust accounting and internal control systems
- Oversee audit preparation, annual financial statements, and board reporting packs
- Ensure tax and regulatory compliance
Budgeting & Financial Performance
- Lead the annual budgeting process
- Monitor and proactively address budget variances
- Provide forecasting, financial modelling and strategic financial insight
- Support divisional managers with financial decision-making
Reporting & Management Information
- Compile quarterly management reports and board-level financial presentations
- Oversee donor and project financial reporting
- Maintain and optimise the chart of accounts structure
- Contribute financial input to the organisation’s annual report
Treasury & Liquidity Management
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity and investment portfolios
- Oversee banking relationships and foreign exchange optimisation
- Maintain governance around treasury and investment activities
Leadership & Strategy
- Manage and develop a high-performing accounting team
- Coach, mentor and drive KPI delivery
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives
- Engage with trustees, auditors, financial institutions and senior stakeholders
Requirements
- CA(SA), CIMA or equivalent accounting qualification with completed articles
- 8–10 years’ experience in accounting, including leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of IFRS for SMEs
- Experience with Oracle / SAP / NetSuite (essential)
- Advanced Excel and strong systems capability
- High attention to detail with strong analytical ability
- Comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at executive level
