About the position
Hire Resolve's client, a well-established firm of consulting engineers and scientists, is seeking a highly experienced Financial Manager to lead their finance department. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of financial systems and best practices. The ideal candidate will play a key role in driving financial performance, ensuring compliance, and supporting long-term business goals. The position is based at the firm’s offices in Rivonia, Johannesburg.
Responsiiblities
- Lead, manage, and motivate a finance team of 15 staff members
- Oversee daily financial operations ensuring compliance with local regulations and company policies
- Manage financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management
- Provide strategic financial analysis and decision support to the executive team
- Implement and manage financial systems including Proman, SAGE payroll, SAP Ariba, and Coupa
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of financial reports
- Maintain internal controls and drive process improvements for efficiency
- Review and implement cost control measures and financial strategies to maximise profitability
- Provide mentorship and leadership to promote professional development within the team
- Verify and approve payroll transactions prior to final processing
- Collaborate with business leaders to provide financial insights for strategic decisions
- Liaise with external auditors during year-end audits and manage audit processes and responses
- Ensure compliance with King IV and IFRS standards
Requirements
- At least 15 years of financial management experience, including team leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Chartered Accountant (CA), CIMA, or equivalent professional certification
- Proficiency with financial systems such as Proman, SAGE payroll, SAP Ariba, and Coupa
- Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
- Proven track record of improving financial performance and implementing strategy
- High level of self-motivation and ability to handle multiple priorities
- Experience in consulting engineering firms is highly advantageous
