About the position

The Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, including financial planning, management of financial risks, record-keeping, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the company's financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage cash flow, banking, and investment activities.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations (e.g., Companies Act, VAT, SARS, IFRS).
  • Liaise with auditors, banks, and other external stakeholders.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Analyse financial data and provide insights and recommendations to management.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
  • Manage and mentor the finance team.
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance.
  • Assist with strategic planning and business development initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare business performance analysis and financial modelling.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (BCom required; Honours or CIMA/CA(SA) preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior financial management role.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and financial management software (e.g., Sage, SAP, Pastel).
  • Strong knowledge of South African tax and statutory regulations.
