About the position
The Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, including financial planning, management of financial risks, record-keeping, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the company's financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Develop, implement, and monitor budgets and forecasts.
- Manage cash flow, banking, and investment activities.
- Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations (e.g., Companies Act, VAT, SARS, IFRS).
- Liaise with auditors, banks, and other external stakeholders.
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
- Analyse financial data and provide insights and recommendations to management.
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Manage and mentor the finance team.
- Oversee tax planning and compliance.
- Assist with strategic planning and business development initiatives.
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare business performance analysis and financial modelling.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (BCom required; Honours or CIMA/CA(SA) preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior financial management role.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and financial management software (e.g., Sage, SAP, Pastel).
- Strong knowledge of South African tax and statutory regulations.
