About the position
ENVIRONMENT:
MANAGE accounting and monitor internal controls as the next Financial Controller wanted by a Tourism and Hospitality company providing luxury accommodation. Your responsibilities will include banking and finance activities, proper reporting and payment to all taxing authorities, insurance recommendations and related purchases and corporate documentation. The successful incumbent must have Grade 12/Matric with a suitable Financial tertiary qualification with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Hospitality industry. You must have Advanced Excel, Pastel Evolution, Micros and Ideal Stock proficiency.
DUTIES:
Operations –
- Compile and capture all revenue and month-end journals
- Daily banking and capturing of bank statements.
- Credit card & cash reconciliation.
- Capture and reconcile loan accounts.
- Check all open accounts and follow up.
- Petty Cash count reconciliation.
- Ensure that stock procedures are followed.
- Preform spot checks of all stock in kitchen, maintenance, housekeeping, etc.
- Identify any slow-moving stock and find solution to sell.
- Spot checks on values of items on list.
- Confirm that order books are kept in a safe place.
- Ensure stock receiving systems are followed.
- Ensure staff rent is up to date.
- Prepare income statements.
- Fixed Asset Register maintenance.
- Boatyard rent (Debtors and Creditors).
- Close and check all house accounts.
- Assist with compiling of financial pack.
Administration -
- Check and update prices.
- Upload function specifications on written instruction.
- Update seasonal changes in the different departments (menus, drinks, bedding, etc.).
- Keep track of money vouchers.
Management -
- Provide support to all departments when necessary.
- Do at least 2 duty shifts per month.
- Assist Host Manager.
- Ensure all financial procedures are followed by staff in all departments.
- Daily revenue reports.
Human Resources -
- Review and analyse leave taken by staff and ensure documentation is in place (medical certificate, family responsibility leave, etc.).
- Ensure that staff is roster correctly and that shift times and break times abide by labour law.
- Complete deactivation with Final Payment Checklist (FPC) upon service termination.
- Ensure that Training Registers are completed.
- Load all new starts on Biometric Attendance Register.
- Ensure that timekeeping and attendance is true and correct.
- Update payroll with new staff details.
- Ensure that all Technology Solutions are in working order.
- Ensure project management is done efficiently and accurate.
- Confirm that all storerooms have locks.
- Ensure Company Vehicles are filled.
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications –
- Grade 12/Matric.
- Relevant Financial tertiary qualification.
Experience/Skills –
- 2 Years’ experience in the Hospitality industry.
- Microsoft Excel Intermediate.
- Pastel Evolution.
- Micros.
- Ideal Stock.
