About the position
Postion Summary:
The Research, Innovation and Impact, Support and Advancement (RIISA) Business Unit based in Pretoria seeks to appoint a qualified and dynamic individual for the following position: Financial Controller to oversee the Income Contract Management and Management Accounting function in the Business Unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overall coordination of Income Contract Management and Management Accounting activities for RIISA including all prescribed Finance activities such as accounting of funding received and grant expenditure, reporting to funders and other stakeholders, budgeting, projections and cost centre maintenance
- Ensure compliance with applicable Finance prescripts
- Oversee external, internal and project audits from initiation to close out
- Roll out new prescripts, policies, procedures and guidelines to the business unit
- Manage and consolidate the budget and projection process for the Business Unit and the preparation of reports and variance explanations thereof
- Monitor and review domain budgets, grants and contracts to ensure objectives and milestones are met in accordance with terms of the contractual agreements Assist Executive directors in RIISA to provide skills development for domain staff to ensure sound contract management and contract performance management within each domain
- Preparation of quarterly and other reports for the business unit
- Preparation of the financial statements and contract reports to the funders
- Preparation of general ledger reconciliations
- Responsible for cost centre management and maintenance and providing guidance to the business unit
- Accounting for grants income and expenditure and follow up on income due
- Completion of month-end processes and reporting to cost centre owners
- Lead and supervise a team of Finance practitioners in RIISA
- Responsible for the asset management function of the business unit
- Responsible for Accounts Receivable section of the business unit Ad hoc requests are per business requirements
Minimum Qualification:
- Bachelors Degree / Advanced Diploma / NQF 7
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum qualification Bachelor’s degree in finance or equivalent at an NQF 7 levelSeven (7) years' relevant experience (proven experience in accounting and management of income contracts, grants and funding received
- Budgeting experience is also required)
