About the position
Our client, a reputable business in the generator industry, is currently looking to hire a Financial Accountant to join their growing team based in Midrand, Johannesburg. Reporting into the Financial Manager and CFO, you will work in support of the Financial Manager towards the optimal use of financial management best practices, including providing financial and administrative services to ensure efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations in the finance department. In addition, you will also provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, as well as preparing reports.
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant 3-year qualification in finance/ accounting; relevant degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years' financial accounting experience, inclusive of financial reporting and reconciliations
- Experienced in working on SAGE software
- Strong MS Excel Skills
Main duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Process monthly Journals (as below) in Sage as per schedules.
- Provisions
- Preference Shares
- Pre-Payments
- Long Term Rentals
- Petty Cash & Procurement Cards
- Payroll Journals
- Ad hoc Journals
- Capture additions (New assets) and disposal in the Fixed Assets register.
- Calculate and process monthly depreciation.
- Agree Fixed Assets register with Trial Balance and Syrinx Asset Listing.
- Compile list of disposals & additions.
- Administration of Insurance claims.
- Collate and prepare necessary documentation for claims.
- Communicate progress of claims to all stakeholders.
- Reconcile Stock Valuations Monthly.
- Reconcile Debtors Monthly
- Reconcile Revenue Monthly.
- Reconcile Vat Monthly.
- Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations and submit within due dates.
- Run a BEE report to ensure supplier BEE Status updated.
- Send out Night outs and Fuel report to HR.
- Creditors Recons:
- Review and sign off Monthly Creditors Recons.
- Expense Ledger Analysis-Computer Expenses, Legal Fees, Consulting Fees, Repairs and Maintenance, Subscription Fees and General Expenses.
- And any other ad hoc Projects.
