Financial Accountant

About the position

Our client is seeking a Financial Accountant to take ownership of the accounting function within their Small Accounts division.
This is a hands-on role suited to a detail-oriented, inquisitive accountant who enjoys problem-solving, improving processes, and ensuring accuracy across all financial operations. You will also manage and support two Creditors Clerks.
Key Responsibilities

• Full responsibility for the General Ledger and month-end close
• Prepare and review balance sheet and creditor reconciliations
• Process and review journals, including salary journals
• Oversee accounts payable and related processes
• Perform GRN reconciliations and allocations
• Support payroll accounting and ensure control accounts reconcile
• Supervise and develop two Creditors Clerks
• Investigate variances and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain and improve financial controls and processes
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting
• Work closely with management on financial matters

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Minimum 5 years’ financial accounting experience
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and entries
• Experience with reconciliations, journals, and AP processes
• Solid ERP system experience (Odoo advantageous)
• Strong Excel skills and overall computer literacy
• High attention to detail and strong analytical ability
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills in Afrikaans and English
