Financial Accountant

About the position

A well-established and reputable company is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join their finance team. This opportunity is ideal for a professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of financial reporting, compliance, and accounting best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
• Process journals and month-end/year-end procedures
• Manage VAT calculations and submissions
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting
• Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external auditors
• Monitor cash flow and assist with financial analysis
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
• Support the Finance Manager with ad hoc financial reporting and projects

Minimum Requirements:

• BCom Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• 3-5 years' experience in an accounting role
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation
• Experience with VAT, reconciliations and financial reporting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience working on an ERP system (SAP, Syspro, Pastel Evolution, Sage or similar)
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines

Advantageous:

• Completed SAICA/SAIPA articles
• Experience in a corporate or multi-entity environment
