About the position
Join a leading building and construction materials company In Durban as a Financial Accountant. You will manage day-to-day accounting, prepare management accounts, assist with audits, and ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead accounting, finance, and company secretarial functions, including annual audits and financial statements
- Oversee Accounts Payable, supplier reconciliations, and timely payments
- Prepare management accounts, Board packs, and support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
- Manage tax compliance (VAT, Income Tax, Dividends Tax, Carbon Tax, Royalty Tax) and liaise with auditors
- Maintain fixed asset and property registers, general ledger reconciliations, and intercompany accounts
- Act as bank signatory and manage insurance, lease agreements, and petty cash
- Ensure strong internal controls, compliance, and accurate financial reporting
Minimum Requirements
- Postgraduate qualification in Finance or Accounting (post-articles experience advantageous)
- 3–5 years’ management experience in finance or accounting
- Strong knowledge of SA tax legislation and financial management practices
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; ERP experience (JDE preferred)
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and complex projects
- Integrity, professionalism, and ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
