About the position
DBN000186 - Financial Accountant - Pietermaritzburg
Purpose of the job:
To keep the company’s finances accurate and up to date while supporting budgeting, reporting, and audits so the business can make clear, confident financial decisions.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Accounting diploma or degree.
- 5+ years’ experience in financial accounting.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience working with Pastel Partner and BI/reporting tools is a plus.
- Able to work under pressure and handle occasional overtime.
- Detail-focused with good communication skills.
Technical tasks competencies & experiences:
- Prepare monthly financial reports, quick updates, and analyse differences from budgets.
- Oversee month-end close to ensure reports are accurate and on time.
- Find ways to make Excel processes faster and simpler.
- Take the lead on budgeting, forecasting, and audits, working closely with auditors.
- Manage VAT filings, taxes, and fixed asset records.
- Help out the Finance and Payroll teams as needed.
