Financial Accountant

About the position

Morningside - Take the lead in financial governance within a growing logistics and supply chain environment. We are seeking a Financial Accountant who will apply their expertise in reporting, costing, and tax compliance to deliver accurate financial insights.
Our client is a market leader in the supply chain and logistics sector, with operations spanning warehousing, transportation, and chemical distribution.
The organization is expanding, with a strong focus on financial governance, robust reporting, and process-driven leadership.

As the Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for full financial reporting, consolidations, costing, and tax compliance, while driving system integration and process improvements.

This role requires a hands-on finance professional who can partner closely with operational teams and provide accurate financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Oversee general ledger and ensure timely month-end closures
• Perform detailed costing and variance analysis across operations
• Compile management reports and consolidated financial packs
• Drive budgeting and forecasting processes
• Support and coordinate audit processes
• Ensure compliance with South African tax legislation (VAT and corporate tax)
• Work cross-functionally to integrate systems and streamline processes
• Oversee inventory management, audits, and controls
• Monitor and implement internal controls
• Develop and manage cash flow systems

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a mid-level accounting role
• BCom Degree in Accounting/Finance (CIMA, AGA, SAIPA or CA advantageous but not essential)
• Strong financial reporting, consolidations, and costing expertise
• Budgeting, forecasting, and tax compliance experience
• Advanced Excel proficiency; Sage Evolution
• Exposure to logistics, supply chain, or chemical distribution industries is beneficial
• Domestic Travel between Durban & Johannesburg will be required 

 
Remuneration
R40 000 – R50 000 monthly
