About the position

DESCRIPTION/SYNOPSIS:
A multinational group is seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join its finance team in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position will take ownership of the accounting and reporting function for several entities within the local finance cluster. This is a hands-on, detail-driven role suited to a candidate with a passion for accuracy, strong systems knowledge, and the ability to work to tight deadlines

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• BCom in Finance or Accounting
• Completed SAICA Articles
• 2-3 years' experience in a full-function accounting role
• Experience in a multinational environment beneficial
• Strong Excel skills; IBM Cognos and Navision experience preferred
• Working knowledge of SOX compliance
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Able to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including analysis and variance commentary
• Process journals for accruals, prepayments, invoices, and foreign exchange
• Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet, fixed assets, and corporate cards
• Manage intercompany billing and reconciliations
• Maintain fixed asset registers and run depreciation schedules
• Support month-end and quarter-end reporting cycles
• Analyse expense trends and prepare commentaries by expense type and brand
• Reconcile and manage vendor payments, customer collections, and open items
• Prepare SOX documentation and monthly audit files
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders during audit processes
• Mentor and guide junior finance team members
• Maintain accurate VAT entries and ensure compliance with contract requirements
