About the position
DESCRIPTION/SYNOPSYS:
This reputable manufacturing company are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join their finance department in Cape Town. The role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a strong focus on financial operations, compliance, and reporting. If you have a professional accounting qualification and 3+ years of experience in financial accounting, we would love to hear from you!
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Qualified CA(SA)
- Completed articles essential. 1 - 3 years post article experience in a similar role beneficial.
- Exposure to the manufacturing industry beneficial.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel - Pivots, VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, etc.)
- Knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems (Syspro preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with precision
- Attention to detail with a flair for accuracy
- Ability to take ownership of tasks
- Experience with both IFRS and IFRS for SMEs is advantageous
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
- Conduct monthly and yearly financial close activities and reconciliations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations
- Review supplier reconciliations and payments prior to release
- Process Forex payments via the current bank account
- Participate in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures
- Assist with audits and other financial assessments as required
- Create and maintain spreadsheets/databases for recording, monitoring, and compiling information
- Prepare and submit statutory returns (e.g., VAT201, EMP201)
- Perform general administrative duties associated with the role
- Adhere to deadlines set by management
- Assist with cash flow management
