About the position
Our client, a diamond mining company based in Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, is seeking a Financial Accountant/Financial Manager to join their team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review supplier and cashbook reconciliations.
- Conduct VAT reviews and prepare VAT201 returns.
- Respond to SARS VAT queries and compile supporting documentation.
- Review EMP submissions and prepare EMP201 returns.
- Perform EMP501 reconciliation preparation.
- Prepare the monthly consolidated management pack.
- Conduct monthly group loan reviews and transaction elimination checks.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
- Perform inventory spot checks.
- Assist in the preparation of ad hoc management packs for individual companies.
- Calculate provisional tax.
- Reconcile annual VAT balances.
- Compile and review annual financial statements.
- Process year-end IFRS and other financial adjustments.
- Assist with the preparation of audit packs and annual audits.
- Assist the GFM with preparing the group income and expenditure budget.
- Contribute to the implementation of finance policies and procedures.
- Conduct internal control compliance tests in accordance with IFRS and IAS.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing accounting policies.
- Support group structure reviews, entity deregistration, and streamlining of transactions and activities.
- Assist with the implementation of inventory systems and ad hoc audits of various transactions, procedures, and departments.
- Undertake any other duties as prescribed by the GFM.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s in accounting, Finance, or related field
- Preferred certifications, e.g., CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA
- 3+ years in finance, auditing, or tax compliance
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, IAS, and tax regulations.
- Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, and budgeting.
