About the position

Postion Summary:
The National Research Foundation (NRF) seeks to make an appointment for the position of Finance Officer: Accounts Payable within Research Advancement Business Unit .

Key Responsibilities:

• Processing of orders accurately and correctly in accordance with NRF policies and proceduresChecking and processing of travel applications and claims to ensure that the NRF policies and procedures are adhered toProcessing of invoices and payments for service providers accurately and timeously in accordance with the NRF policies and procedures
• This position requires capturing high volumes of invoicesEnsure that the NRF meets its financial obligations to service providersComplete the creditor’s account reconciliation and follow through on the month end statementsPrepare sundry payments, advances and staff claimsComplete general ledger account reconciliations and follow up on the overdue claimsCapture transactions to bank account and reconcileComplete Month-end Procedures to ensure accounting period properly closed Liaise with service providers and handle enquiries from internal and external stakeholdersEnsure compliance with the financial policies and proceduresProvide financial and administrative support to staff

Minimum Qualification:

• Diploma / Advanced Certificate / NQF 6

Minimum Experience:

• 3-5 years

• A post matric Diploma in Accounting or equivalentA minimum of 3 years’ appropriate experience in Accounts PayableComputer literacy including financial/accounting software

Experience:

• Effective time management skillsActive problem-solving skillsAbility to handle audit queries

Knowledge:

• A flair for numbersExcellent organizational and interpersonal skillsAttention to detailAbility to work in a team
